RidersCollective in GPWSP Convening IN nairobi, Kenya

Last week RidersCollective took part in Global Platform Workers Solidarity Project Convening in Nairobi, Kenya. For free days (10.-12.05) we were sharing space with activists and unionists from grassroots and formal platform workers organizations from 70 different countries and across different fields affected by platform work: food delivery, domestic work, taxi and lift service, data work.

The main goal of the convening was to finalize workers demands for the Platform Work Convention before negotiations in this year’s ILC in June. Even though our work profiles might differ, our demands are the same: fair working conditions, living wage, access to health insurance covering physical and mental health, right to organize, algorithmic transparency.

We hope that these demands will be fairly represented in the upcoming Platform Work Convention and will lead to a better and safer work environment for the platform workers around the world!
